I’ve been busy! Very busy. Since I last spoke to you, our little Pomeranian pup (Pippin) has gotten really big. Well, bigger than he was. This has been matched with heightened exuberance, and enhanced curiosity for our cat (Mango the Flamepoint Siamese, and yes, he’s the inspiration for Fredward).
Mango has been temporarily brave, coming up to Pippin to sniff him, but then consistently meowing loudly in his face. As if asking: “Why are you in my space?!”
Attempts to explain to Mango that he’s the one who approached the pup have not worked. So far.
In between puppy-proofing and monitoring, I’ve been busy doing some in-between work before getting to outlining Beyond the Crimson Haze (Book 3 of the Blood Veil Series, you’re hearing it here first!).
New Website
I completely overhauled my website (https://nicholaswoodesmith.com/). It’s looking sleeker, more modern. And I splurged a bit to upgrade the server performance so it will stop lagging. There’re quizzes, fan art, memes, reading order pages. And it’s looking really awesome!

New Short Stories
In 2022, I participated in a short story contest for a magazine. One of my stories became a finalist and the other also did relatively well. Now, years later, I’ve published them on Amazon for your enjoyment.
The first story (the finalist) is called The Trials of Perebius Peddler. It’s a satirical fable following an inventor seeking to escape his dreary, oppressive existence. The second, The City at the Edge of Progress, is the tale of a city-state resisting the encroachment of a dystopian empire.

Lastly, I’ve uploaded a new free audiobook to YouTube. Demonic Departure is an action-packed, fiery Katverse short story starring everyone’s favourite pyromancer, Hammond York, in his quest to rescue his cat Mr Mittens.
