Cats, Puppies, and Novel Writing—Who Needs Sleep Anyway?

Yaw! I’m bone tired. Drained as, well, a drained battery. Creative, eh? Forgive me for my lack of poeticism. Not that I’ve ever been much of a poet. Let’s just say I’m kaput.

We’re currently in the throes of potty-training Pippin the Pomeranian. He’s doing very well! Almost ten weeks old and already he’s (mostly) whining to be let out to use the bathroom. Most of the mistakes indoors have been us being far too tired to notice.

The problem with potty training a puppy is their bladders are tiny. Which means, we’ve had to set up alarms to wake up every few hours to let him out. This has saved our floors but hammered our circadian rhythms.

Pippin is a sweetheart, though. And there has been some progress, and lack of progress with Mango. Mango is a Flamepoint Siamese, and apparently, they can get really jealous. Yesterday, Mango showed some friendliness to Pippin, but Pippin’s over eagerness got to the grumpy kitty, and there was some slapping. Which Pippin didn’t even notice.

Today, there was a little hissing, which isn’t nice, but a part of the progress. We’re just glad that Mango isn’t fleeing at all times now.

In writing news, I am almost done outlining Beyond the Crimson Haze, book 3 of the Blood Veil Series. In case you missed it, my plan is to finish 6 – 7 books in this series and then release them all at once. Yes, you read that right. No slow, monthly release. No rapid, weekly release. When book 1 hits, every single book written will be releasing as well.

Then, the future of the series will be up to you. The first release will have a satisfactory ending. If it ends, it will end well without any loose ends. BUT: if the series does well, I will write more in the series. And I’ll keep on writing as long as there’s an appetite for more Blood Veil.

I can’t wait for you to read it!

Until then…
